Our Story

Chris and Kristy Trickett are the dedicated owners behind the practice. They first met while working on a stroke rehabilitation ward in Wellington, where they developed a shared passion for supporting people through recovery journeys. Early on, they recognised a common vision—to one day create a practice where they could work together and provide holistic care in a way that truly reflects their values.

Creative Physio was initially established by Chris, driven by this vision of delivering high-quality, person-centred physiotherapy care. As the practice has grown, so has the team—bringing together like-minded clinicians who share a commitment to these same principles.

Today, Creative Physio reflects that original vision: a collaborative, values-driven practice focused on providing thoughtful, individualised rehabilitation. We believe recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and we work alongside each client to support meaningful outcomes in a way that fits their life, goals, and environment.

Director

PGcert (clinical rehabilitation), BPhty (merit), BSc (Upper second-class honours)

I began my Physiotherapy career in 2009 in a hospital setting. Here I established a strong foundation in physical health management by working across various areas, including acute medical and orthopedic wards, as well as inpatient Neuro rehabilitation. By 2013, I had found my niche in the musculoskeletal field. I now enjoy working within the outpatient sector with clients from all ages, backgrounds and with varying goals.

I also have a unique understanding and approach to Physiotherapy having been on the other side of the health professional/patient relationship. In 2010 I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia. This is a neurological condition that results in overactive neck muscles which can lead to altered postures and functional limitations, hence my slogan ‘rehab with a twist.’  There have been lots of treatments, specialists and therapies along the way for the management of this condition. These experiences have shaped my practice, guiding me to approach each patient with empathy and a strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes.

During my career, I have also gained further qualifications to complement my approach to Physiotherapy. This includes a postgraduate certificate in clinical rehabilitation, a diploma in sports massage, and certification in being able to treat vestibular system issues and deliver Mulligan techniques.

My aim is for every client to leave a Physiotherapy session knowing they have been heard and feeling confident in their recovery journey. This can be by gaining an understanding of the issues at hand, pain management, or physical strength and reassurance. I am fully invested in providing dedicated health care.

Physiotherapist

PGDip (neurorehabilitation, distinction), BPhty (merit)

I started work as a physiotherapist in 2001, working across multiple areas within a hospital setting. Upon completion of my rotations, I settled into a role in neurorehabilitation working primarily with clients/kiritaki following stroke, but also with Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, amputation and fractures. Working within the hospital setting provided me with a broad and strong foundation of physiotherapy and health-related knowledge and skill which continues to inform my practice.

I have subsequently also worked in private, community-based neurorehabilitation and in private practice with musculoskeletal clients/kiritaki.

As a result of my own life and health experiences, I now find myself drawn to the fields of chronic condition management and persistent pain, and pelvic health. I bring to my practice a lived experience that deepens my empathy for and understanding towards my clients/kiritaki.

Over the course of my career I have consistently worked towards additional qualifications in support of my practice. I completed a Certificate in Health Leadership in 2007 and a PostGraduate Diploma (endorsed in Neurorehabilitation) in 2008 as well as the PINC Cancer Rehabilitation Certification Course and relevant courses in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. I remain committed to constant learning and upskilling with respect to my practice, always wanting to provide my clients/kiritaki with the most up-to-date, best management for their condition.

My aim is for every client/kiritaki to feel seen and heard, to have their unique perspective valued and included as we work together towards their optimal recovery, health and participation in life. My passion is to see individuals empowered to understand and manage their own ongoing health, returning to full engagement in their homes, workplaces and communities.

Occupational Therapist
Practice Manager

BOT - NZROT

I’m an Occupational Therapist with over 22 years of experience. I began my career in the public health sector, where I gained broad experience across acute and rehabilitation settings, supporting people with a wide range of health conditions.

During this time, I developed a strong interest in working with individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injuries. Over the past 11 years, I’ve worked in the private sector and now specialise in brain injury rehabilitation, with a particular focus on concussion.

I’m passionate about helping people optimise their everyday lives and navigate their unique circumstances—whether they’re recovering from injury or illness. As an occupational therapist, I work closely with my clients to understand their needs, values, and environments, supporting them to achieve meaningful outcomes in daily life. I also have a special interest in nervous system regulation and how it impacts recovery and overall wellbeing.

I provide ACC-funded concussion assessment, rehabilitation, and vocational support services through contracts with Active+ and WSM Group, including stay-at-work and return-to-work planning. Alongside my clinical work, I’m also involved in the operational management of Creative Physio, where I support service development and a strong focus on high-quality, client-centred care.
